Out of Town Patients
Due to the lack of dedicated hernia specialists and experts we welcome patients from outside of our region. Many times patients who have done their research and do not want mesh have a hard time finding a local surgeon with expertise in non-mesh techniques. At Cober Hernia, we specialize in non-mesh techniques such as Desarda and Shouldice. We have streamlined the process for out-of-town patients to make their experience simpler and more enjoyable.
We are located in sunny Palm Beach County and our setting does lend itself well to recovery. We have partnered with local hotels to offer discounted rates for our patients.
Dr. Cober operates at several locations:
For patients from Orlando and northern Florida, we recommend utilizing Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce.
For patients from the West Coast of Florida or flying in, we recommend utilizing the </spanLaser Surgery Center in Palm Beach Gardens.
Virtual consultation:
Schedule a telehealth visit with Dr. Cober to review your clinical situation and discuss your options.
We offer upfront pricing for clear transparency and accept insurance and Medicare and also offer competitive self-pay rates.
Scheduling procedure:
We will work with you to schedule your procedure when it works for you and offer local helps for your travel.
We coordinate with your local doctors and lab services to ensure you have pre-op testing done, if any is required.
Day of procedure:
Dr. Cober will examine you before the procedure and discuss with you in person.
Most surgeries are about an hour.
Procedures are outpatient, meaning you are discharged an hour or two after the anesthesia has worn off.
Recovery:
Most patients rest locally for 1-2 days.
We will check in with you prior to you leaving the area; this can be a clinic visit (nearby) or a hotel visit.
You have full access to us by phone and secure messaging.
After returning home, we typically do a telehealth visit in a week or two and one again in a few months.
